The Bakehouse at 124
Thanks to the vision of the client, Littleworth Ltd was given the unique opportunity to work in this 16th century, grade 2* listed building, transforming it from a very sad men's outfitters, into an artisan bakery and coffee shop. The first step was to obtain change of use and conservation planning permissions.
Having completely removed all fittings, electrical and mechanical systems, we installed new services, including power and plumbing, constructed new toilets and re-decorated throughout. Joinery work was carried out, with the installation of the front counter and bakery fittings. Consideration for the age of the building was critical and the fact that little structural alteration could be done to the timbered structure, meant that small details such as painting exposed wiring to match the beams, were important.
A deviation from our normal commercial office projects, the result was a very successful fit out, so good that a Civic Society Commendation was awarded for the building.
